It’s the most wonderful time of the year so the song tells us. Everyone is excited and the opportunities for fun abound. With everything going on, it can be a bit overwhelming for a family to find activities for the holidays. When are you supposed to get some time for that fabled holiday relaxation? Never fear. Here are some fun ideas for do-it-yourself holiday fun to bring the family together in celebration of the season.

Plan a Holiday Scavenger Hunt

Sometimes you just need a little bit of time off your feet. Why not set up a holiday scavenger hunt for the kids or the adults. You can either build this one yourself, or you can purchase a set like this one. However, you go about it, set the time for the event, get some prizes together, let the hunters loose, and enjoy a few moments.

A Day of Baking

This is a classic one, but it’s a classic for a reason. So many of us have holiday memories associated with something baking in the kitchen of a loved one. This is a great way to bring the family together. Take some time. Plan what you want to make. Throw on some holiday music and have some fun baking and decorating as a family. What a great way to make a memory.

Wrap/Make Gifts Together

There’s more joy in giving than receiving. Why not take some time as a family to wrap your gifts, or make gifts for your loved ones together? Put some extra magic and love into those gifts by making an event of it. Share some memories of holidays gone by, or maybe put on your favorite holiday movie. Make this a tradition and have a great source of continuing holiday bonding and fun over the joy of giving.

What do you think of these ideas? Do you have some of your own? We’d love to hear your thoughts on do-it-yourself holiday fun ideas with your family.
